The Value of Evergreen Content

Have you ever struggled to come up with new and fun things to write about? You are not alone. It happens to everyone, even writers. I have been there and know what it is like to be stumped on what to say in my next social media post, newsletter or blog and I LOVE to write.

A widely used and helpful strategy many content creators, including myself, use is called evergreen content. Rather than material that quickly becomes dated and stale, evergreen content remains relevant and stays “fresh” for readers over an extended time frame and is search engine optimized. Evergreen content isn’t about a specific event or trend, news, statistics or impacted by season.

And that’s not all. Additional benefits of evergreen content include: Creating value for your customers, increasing website traffic, setting you apart as an industry leader and less work for you.

When creating evergreen content, it is crucial to research what your audience wants to know. What questions are they asking? Learn what their pain points/struggles are and develop content that provides a solution. This helps to build trust in your business and your brand and encourages them to buy from and/or work with you.

Evergreen content that stands out should have your unique spin on the topic and technical language is kept to a minimum. Some common examples of evergreen content that performs well over time include the following:

  • How to….

  • The ultimate guide for…

  • Everything you need to know about…

  • Case studies

  • Instructional videos

  • Common mistakes in (industry)

  • Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

  • Listicles (10 ways to …)

Once you create pieces of evergreen content, don’t bury them! Repurpose and promote them on a regular cycle to ensure maximum exposure.

I don’t like to scramble to come up with ideas of what to post/write about. This is why I have listened to my audience about what writing questions they have and what they struggle with when it comes to writing. I have developed content that either answers their questions or provides solutions for their writing struggles. Now, I have an inventory of evergreen content that is used on a consistent basis.

I am pleased to offer a full range of writing services that includes content ideas/writing prompts to build your evergreen content library, so you don’t have to sit there and scratch your head on what to write about. Now that you know what to write about, it’s time to plan all of that content. I have a blog post all about this topic, which can be found if you click here
